BIO

Moti Tavassoli is a Persian-American LA-based artist and designer. With a background in architecture, she has a passion for designing spaces with visual and tactile qualities that evoke spiritual and emotional experiences. Her artwork is no different.

Having grown up in Tehran and LA, she belongs to both and neither. Moti conjures her own spaces of belonging and paints imaginary landscapes that question borders, physical laws and the materiality of things, a parallel universe she can find rest in and make sense of life.

Moti’s visual language draws inspiration from mushrooms, plants and marine life to remind her audience of our undeniable connection to nature. Intricate line work is a key element in her art, symbolizing the mysteries, holistic patterns and energetic flows of the worlds she creates. Her artwork has been exhibited in LA, San Francisco and New York.
