BIO
Moti Tavassoli is a Persian-born Los Angeles-based designer and visual artist who draws with paint. A self-taught artist, she began her career in architectural, product and pattern design where she learned how to translate 3D forms into 2D imagery by the way of line work. Her early exposure to Islamic art and architecture showed her the art of abstracting the natural organic world into its beautiful geometric essence.
The themes of her work revolve around experiential spaces, whether they are emotional states of growth and transition that she’s navigating, or metaphysical environments she dreams to explore with childlike curiosity and connection. She hopes viewers resonate with these abstractions which reflect universal experiences like discomfort, curiosity, growth and belonging. Her visual language draws inspiration from the beautiful and resilient world of botany, seascape and mushrooms. The Intricate line work is a key element in her art, symbolizing the hidden mysteries of these spaces. It’s as if you’re wearing special goggles that reveal the inner workings and energetic flows of the worlds she creates.
